The best man speech is a very important one. Not only is it a job of the best man, it also serves as an excellent way to let the groom know how much you care about them. Be yourself and have fun.

Project your voice so that all can hear. Use a microphone if available.

Command the attention of the room with your confidence.

Speak with a clear voice. Make sure to clearly annunciate your words.

Use humour to lighten the mood.

Be sincere. Even if you are telling jokes, make them tasteful and from the heart.

Tell a good story about the groom or bride.

Be cautious about telling an embarrassing story about the bride and groom. It could be very awkward if the bride and groom are not laughing.

Keep it simple.

Remember that you don't have to be perfect.

Say thank you to the bride and groom for the opportunity to speak.

Make eye contact and briefly glance at your notes to keep track of where you are.

Keep it between 3-5 minutes long.

Drink too much before the speech. Keep your mind clear.

Pause too long and turn a natural stoppage into an awkward silence.
